Chapter 662 I am Iron Bones, Three-Eyed Clan, One of Five Pupils
Stone Hammer wanted to say something, but Iron Bone silenced him with a single look.
"Ash." Ironbone turned to Ash. "Your men retreat to the rear and stand by, ready to provide backup at any time. If my health drops below fifty percent, don't hesitate, run north immediately. I'll cover your retreat."
Ash nodded, not saying anything more. He knew Ironbone's personality—the more he talked, the more annoyed Ironbone would become.
Ironbone added to his forty men, "Mages and hunters in the back row, wait until I engage the enemy before you start attacking. Don't fight too aggressively; save some mana and arrows. You'll need to cover me if we need to retreat."
"Understood!" the forty people replied in unison.
After making the arrangements, Ironbone hung the shield back on his arm and stretched his wrists. He didn't move immediately, but glanced again at the mysterious figure in the distance—the other person was still standing there, relaxed, as if waiting for them to finish their discussion.
"He's waiting for us," Tie Gu said in a low voice, his tone unreadable, neither mocking nor admiring.
Ash walked up to Ironbone and lowered his voice: "Ironbone, I'm thinking about something."
"explain."
"He's been standing there motionless, is he waiting for something?" Ash's [Crisis Perception] continued to alarm, like a needle pricking the back of his head. "Since he could instantly kill Coldblade and the others, it means he has the ability to finish a battle quickly. But he's not using it. He's been stalling for time."
Tie Gu paused for two seconds: "You mean, he's waiting for us to all be together?"
“Yes,” Ash said, “it’s like fishing. You put out the bait, wait for the fish to bite, and then you reel in the line.”
Ironbone didn't answer. He glanced at his own men, then at Ash's men, and then at the figure in the distance who hadn't moved an inch from beginning to end.
Sixty people. Adding the ten who were killed earlier, there are a total of seventy people.
If the other party really wants to catch them all in one fell swoop, then these seventy people are the fish in his net.
But Ironbone still raised his shield.
"Let him try reeling in his line," Ironbone said. "Let's see if his line is stronger or my shield is stronger."
He strode forward.
The boots slammed into the grass, each step steady and heavy. A shield lay across his chest, revealing only his armored shoulders and half his face.
Ash watched Ironbone's retreating figure, his fists clenching and unclenching repeatedly. He wanted to shout "Watch out!" but felt those three words were too weak; Ironbone didn't need such nonsense.
Crackstone stood beside Ash, watching Ironbone walk towards the mysterious figure, muttering, "Captain, do you think Lord Ironbone can hold out?"
The ashes did not answer.
He stared straight ahead, his eyes unblinking.
Tie Gu stopped ten steps away from the mysterious man.
The shield was slightly raised, covering most of the body, leaving only one eye exposed.
"I am Ironbone," he announced his name, "One of the Five Eyes of the Three-Eyed Clan."
Lin Tian's clone looked at the person in front of him who was wearing heavy black armor and holding a shield, and nodded slightly.
"I know."
Iron Bones narrowed his eyes slightly: "You know? Then why don't you leave? You knew I would come, yet you still stood here waiting."
Lin Tian's clone didn't answer directly, but tilted his head slightly, the smile on his lips remaining unchanged: "Because I'm waiting for someone who can withstand one of my attacks."
Iron Bones' pupils contracted slightly.
The shield was raised another inch.
"Then let's go."
Tiegu raised his head, his gaze fixed on the person in the distance.
The person stood still, without making any movement, and didn't even look in their direction.
But Tie Gu could sense that the person's attention was fixed on them—not on any one person, but on everyone present.
Tie Gu took a deep breath.
"Ash is right," Ironbone spoke, his voice deep but clear, audible to everyone present. "This mysterious person is no ordinary individual. I'll hold them off from the front; you all act accordingly."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over Ash and Crackstone before turning to the other team members further away.
"If you see me falling behind, run north. Don't look back, don't hesitate, run as fast as you can."
Stonehammer frowned: "Captain, what are you talking about? How could you possibly be at a disadvantage?"
"Just in case." Tie Gu glanced at him. "I said just in case."
Stonehammer opened his mouth, but said nothing more. His knuckles, gripping the spear tightly, turned white, clearly indicating he didn't agree with Ironbone's assessment. In Stonehammer's eyes, Ironbone was an invincible symbol; in his three years with the guild, he had never seen Ironbone defeated in a single battle.
Iron Bone continued, "No matter how strong the opponent is, they can't do anything to me. I have the [Indestructible Vajra], so even if I can't beat them, they can't kill me. You guys run away, then I'll retreat."
He stretched his shoulders, the armor plates clanging metallically. He took the shield off his back, held it in his left hand, and ran his right hand over the edge of the shield to make sure there were no cracks or nicks.
The shield is Ironbone's most trusted companion. He has adorned it with the finest gems, imbued it with the strongest magic, and upgraded it to the highest level. This shield has withstood billions of instances of damage and saved countless lives. Today, it can save him once more.
Ash walked up to Ironbone and asked in a low voice, "Ironbone, have you ever considered what would happen if his attack could pass through your shield?"
Ironbone paused for a moment. He glanced down at his shield, then looked up at the figure in the distance.
"You can't get through it," Iron Bone said. "My shield is upgraded to +15 and enchanted with three layers of defensive barriers. Even if Cang Wu attacks with all his might, he can't break through it."
Ash didn't refute, but he also didn't show any relief. His [Crisis Perception] was still alarming, and it was even stronger than before.
"Alright, I'm going." After saying that, Ironbone pushed his shield forward and charged out like a tank at full throttle.
Stone Hammer followed closely behind, and the spear was held horizontally, its tip pointing in the direction of Lin Tian's clone.
"Keep up! Maintain formation!" Stonehammer shouted.
Forty men followed Ironbone, advancing in a fan-shaped battle formation. The front row consisted of ten shield warriors, their shields forming an impenetrable wall. The middle row comprised fifteen damage dealers, their weapons poised for battle. The back row held ten healers, ready to replenish the front's health at any moment. At the edge were five assassins, semi-invisible, lurking along the perimeter of the formation.
Forty people, forty hearts, converged into a mighty torrent at this moment.
Ash looked at the twenty teammates behind him who were still panting and gritted his teeth.
"Let's go too. But don't rush ahead, stay behind Lord Ironbone."
