Chapter 1069: The Best Day
Chapter 1069: The Best Day
Just as Maowa was about to refuse, an even more surprising arrangement came next.
"If this is an important business event for you, we can also arrange for four Kobe-signed game balls and post-game photos."
"You can do that?" Maowa was very surprised.
In the end, Mao Wa declined the offer of a ride, only asking for four tickets in return.
After his afternoon classes ended, he sent a text message to Park Sung-ho, James, and Han Woo, asking them to come to his apartment that evening because he had something to tell them.
Less than a minute later, Park Sung-ho replied: "What is it? Can't you tell me now?"
Maowa replied, "You'll find out when you come tonight."
At 7 p.m., the doorbell rang on time. When I opened the door, I saw three people standing there: Park Sung-ho was carrying a bag of fried chicken, James was carrying a dozen beers, and Han Woo was holding a pizza box.
"Huang, what delicious food did you make tonight?" James shouted in his Texas-accented English as soon as he walked in.
After Han Yu entered the house, he placed the pizza box on the small dining table. With the three of them inside, the already small apartment seemed even more cramped.
Park Sung-ho, acting as if he knew the place well, sat down on the sofa: "Now you can tell me, right? What did you call us here for?"
Mao Wa closed the door, looked at the three of them, and said, "Do you guys want to watch the Lakers vs. Bulls game? I mean watch it live, not just on TV."
The room was silent for a few seconds.
James was the first to react: "Is that even a question? But the tickets for this game are already sold out, unless you buy them on the secondary market, but that's just too expensive."
Park Sung-ho nodded repeatedly: "I was planning to try and buy tickets online yesterday, but I couldn't get any at all. I heard they were gone in an instant."
Han Yu remained silent, quietly waiting for what would happen next.
Maowa pulled out four tickets from under his notebook and placed them on the coffee table.
Park Sung-ho, quick as a flash, grabbed one of the tickets and examined it closely. "This isn't fake, is it? Taek-dee, where did you get this?"
At this point, James and Han Yu each received a ticket.
"My seat is near the player tunnel?" James stood up excitedly.
"How much does this cost?" Han Yu asked Maowa, looking completely bewildered.
"I won't go into the details, but it didn't cost any money, it was basically a points redemption!" Maowa concealed the whole process.
At this moment, the three of them were too excited to ask for details.
After the initial excitement subsided, James suddenly remembered something: "Wait a minute, the game is at 7 PM. Will we make it there in time after class?"
Park Sung-ho replied, "It should be fine, James, we'll ride in your car."
"OK!" James readily agreed, since he was the only one of the four who had a car.
On game day, James drove to Staples Center, but they soon encountered a problem: there was no parking available nearby because the parking lots were full due to the large number of people attending the game.
"What should we do?" James was a little worried. He couldn't just drive around the Staples Center in circles, could he?
At this moment, Maowa took out his phone and made a call. A few minutes later, the other party called back.
They told Mao and his team to drive directly to the entrance of the Staples Center, where people were already waiting for them.
Although James was somewhat suspicious, he still drove to the entrance under Maowa's guidance.
As soon as the car stopped, someone came to help park it, and a blonde woman in a business-style short skirt led them into the venue.
"Huang, this is unbelievable! You just made a phone call, how can it be so magical?" James and the others found it hard to believe.
At this moment, the blonde woman who was responsible for guiding them to their seats introduced as she walked: "Your seats are in section A, right next to the players' tunnel. After the game, if you'd like, you can wait a moment before leaving. You might even have a chance to take a photo with Mr. Kobe Bryant."
Upon hearing this, James staggered: "What? We still have a chance to take a picture with Kobe?"
Park Sung-ho was so excited he couldn't speak. He gripped Han Woo's arm tightly, causing Han Woo to wince in pain, but he didn't care about the pain because he was also very excited.
When the four of them walked out of the tunnel and arrived at their seats on the sidelines, what they saw completely stunned them. Their seats were too close to the field, only a few steps away. The players' tunnel was on their right, and the players would be coming out from there to play soon.
There were also four Lakers-branded t-shirts and hats on their seats.
Mao Wa picked up the t-shirt and looked at the blonde beauty who had led them in: "What's this?"
The blonde woman nodded: "This is a souvenir for you. I hope you like it."
After the blonde woman left, James grabbed the boy and asked, "Hey Huang, are you a magician?"
After the blonde woman left, James grabbed the boy and asked, "Hey Huang, are you a magician?"
Fortunately, the other audience members all had such souvenirs, which allowed Maowa to get away with it.
Before the game started, the players entered the court to warm up. When Kobe ran out of the tunnel, Park Sung-ho, who was closest to him, was so excited that he almost fainted.
"Kobe! Kobe!"
The entire game was nothing short of a dream. The four of them were surrounded by celebrities and seasoned fans from all walks of life. Every time Kobe made a basket, the cheers in the entire arena were deafening, and they were right there in the midst of that cheering crowd.
In the end, the Lakers narrowly defeated the Bulls. When the final buzzer sounded, the four players and all the other fans in the arena stood up and cheered. Kobe and the others walked towards the player tunnel and waved to them, even throwing them a towel to wipe their sweat.
James reacted quickly, catching it in one swift motion, and exclaimed excitedly, "I got it! I got it!"
At this moment, many fans cast envious glances.
However, Maowa was a bit disgusted; the smell was just too strong! He wouldn't even take it if it were given to him for free.
Instead of leaving immediately, the group stayed a little longer.
When most of the people had left, the blonde beauty reappeared.
"Gentlemen, you're in luck! Please follow me!"
A few minutes later, the four of them met Kobe and were immediately at a loss for what to do.
Kobe was very easygoing, giving each of the four of them a high-five and chatting with them for a bit.
Before leaving, they took a group photo together, and Kobe even signed their Lakers t-shirts.
Leaving the lounge, the four of them were still a little dizzy.
LeBron James posted a photo of the group on social media, captioning it, "The best day ever!"
Park Sung-ho and Han Woo followed suit, and soon their social media feeds received a flood of comments.
