Chapter 75, Section 74: Bizarre! Absurd! Wanting to bury myself in sleep again! [5th Update]
The night is deep.
Ian's explanation was indeed thorough and detailed. The solid foundation provided by the "one certificate for all" and the complete understanding of every detail made all of the dozen or so young wizards in Ravenclaw feel that it was well worth the money.
They gained knowledge.
Ian received today's share of Silver Sike, as well as a significant increase in his Potions Mastery skill, gaining seven or eight points from reviewing existing knowledge and gaining new insights.
"See you again tomorrow! Anyone who thinks it's a good day, come!"
Ian bid farewell to each of the more enthusiastic and grateful young wizards, savoring the sense of accomplishment he felt from imparting knowledge and skills while also gaining a great deal in return, before returning to his dormitory.
In the dimly lit dormitory room.
Michael Jordan's snoring filled the air, and William, who had been terrified by Aurora in the afternoon, didn't bury himself in his studies under the small lamp as Ian had predicted.
He was completely wrapped in his blanket, not like he was sleeping, but rather curled up into a ball, occasionally wriggling around inside.
If Ian hadn't only felt fear, unease, and a little bit of disbelief, he would have suspected that his roommate was playing a magical version of the Holy Grail game at night.
Eleven years old?
People from Europe and America generally develop earlier.
"The descendants of the German Aurors certainly understand this better." Ian thought that William might not have recovered from the afternoon's Potions class, and he might lose a valuable new friend because of it.
There's nothing we can do about it.
It all depends on whether William can figure it out himself. Ian didn't experience the chaos that Europe went through, so he naturally couldn't empathize with the family education William received.
"It's only 11 p.m., and I'm the only one still studying in this dorm room." Ian didn't have a small desk lamp that could light up on its own, so he raised his glowing wand and began to study by lamplight.
My original plan was to read the books I borrowed from the library tonight, hoping to uncover the secrets of this dreamlike realm.
However, the Half-Blood Prince's "Advanced Potion Making" is also very appealing.
(Successfully read the Potions textbook, Potions Mastery +3)
[Successfully read the Potions textbook; Potions Mastery +2]
With annotations by Severus Snape, this Potions textbook is a rare gem, offering a learning experience far superior to anything Ian could have achieved by studying it alone.
Libash Polacht's "Advanced Potions Making" is a potions textbook used in Hogwarts' NEWT level Potions class.
It contains various potion recipes, many of which Snape improved upon in their preparation. Ian even noticed some relatively new handwriting on it.
It has clearly been changed, corrected, and supplemented recently.
The entire book is the culmination of a potion master's painstaking research, allowing Ian to learn and comprehend it at a rocket-like pace, and he quickly underwent a true transformation.
(Potion Mastery (Level 3) 3/400)
This skill has reached the same level as Transfiguration, allowing Ian to even reflect on the shortcomings of his lecture today, and giving him a higher level of judgment and control in the field of potions.
"I've become stronger, but I haven't gone bald."
Besides the knowledge about potions, Ian also made an unexpected discovery: the blank spaces in the book contained some self-created spells that proved Snape's extraordinary talent.
【Tongue-locking and throat-sealing spell (Level 1) 3/100】
[Listen to the mantra with your ears closed (Level 0) 27/50]
【Upside-down Golden Bell Spell (Level 1) 3/100】
The descriptions and explanations from the creator himself far surpassed those of ordinary textbooks, and Ian chose to learn some of the most practical spells from them.
As for the [Divine Edge Shadowless Spell] that he had already learned, it was also on it. Through a much more detailed explanation than the previous note, Ian gained a proficiency boost of more than seventy points.
"They're almost all curses, and my half-blood uncle didn't even cross them out?" Ian saw the new handwriting on them, but he didn't think it was Snape's oversight.
Old Batman probably wants Ian to learn—that's quite intriguing. Perhaps it's because Voldemort's sneaky return next year is already being planned.
Ian wasn't sure.
Or perhaps they wanted him to be wary of the saints in the academy?
Today, in the hogwarts elf kitchen, he saw Professor Ronnie Ehrlich's bare hand, which was partially exposed from carrying a basin, bearing the bookstore owner's golden thief tattoo.
Bao is a saint.
"At least he's a capable teacher; those who can become saints are no ordinary people." Ian continued reading Snape's notes and textbooks until two or three in the morning.
A light drizzle began to fall outside.
Having gained a lot more skill, he then quietly washed up and went to bed.
Before going to bed.
Ian glanced at William's bed—his green-haired roommate was still curled up like a hedgehog, occasionally shifting his position, proving that he was still not asleep but was doing something else.
I drift off to sleep at night and have sweet dreams.
the next day.
"Wake up, wake up, wake up, something terrible has happened." Ian was shaken awake just like yesterday. When he opened his eyes, he saw Michael raising his big, dark hand.
Fortunately, it wasn't hit.
"What happened? Did Hogwarts Castle grow wings and fly away?" Ian rubbed his sleepy eyes; this time of day was when his mind was at its most muddled.
"No, it's that the Defense Against the Dark Arts class this morning has been canceled." Michael's eyes were filled with fear and unease as he stammered to Ian.
"I heard our Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher has gone missing! Someone said he died last night!" Without lemonade, Michael's words sent Ian into a deep sleep!
"Hiss! Dead? Gone so quickly?"
Ian was dumbfounded.
He knew how dangerous the Defense Against the Dark Arts position was, but he never imagined that the teacher of that class would die on the first day of school, especially since the teacher was a genuine saint!
Ronnie Ehrlich's voice and smile from last night still seem vivid in my mind.
He praised the other person as a ruthless individual last night, and then he was completely defeated in just one day? That's faster than the incompetent wizard Gilderoy Lockhart was forced to kneel down in his Defense Against the Dark Arts post!
So unreasonable!
Voldemort's curse couldn't possibly take effect so quickly!
"That can't be right. This is Hogwarts, and he's a powerful wizard." Ian felt like he might still be dreaming.
"Whether he's dead or not, we don't know, but he's definitely missing. Dean Flitwick just came to inform us that all classes this morning have been canceled, and the professors are searching for him all over the school right now." Michael's voice was filled with unease and fear, and his eyes were practically bulging out of their sockets, so he wasn't joking.
"I'll go and inquire further."
talking.
He ran out of the dormitory.
While Ian was still struggling to process this bombshell news...
"That one—Ian."
William suddenly emerged from the bathroom, seemingly unconcerned about the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and awkwardly approached Ian's bed.
"We're good friends, right?"
It was as if yesterday's scene was repeating itself.
"certainly."
Ian felt that William might have come to a realization.
"So——.——"
William became even more awkward, his expression a mixture of remorse and inner struggle. He spoke in a low voice, his tone tinged with a hint of unspoken tears.
"Could you introduce me to the new generation of shamanism—the saints? Last night my grandfather said that if I don't join you, he'll go back and have my dad kill me."
"I feel he's serious."
William's sobs became increasingly pronounced.
This was another absurd moment that left Ian completely dumbfounded!
I rely on!
Your grandfather wasn't a German Auror!
They asked you to apply to join the Party?
Ian pinched his face blankly.
He felt he had really stepped up today!
