Chapter 353: Because His Grandfather Is Still Alive
Chapter 353: Because His Grandfather Is Still Alive
Thea Shaw was enlightened.
When she first learned about The Aetherium Sect, she had wondered if there were other sects besides The Aetherium Sect.
Shouldn’t the occult profession have many high-ranking experts too?
Perhaps it was because her information channels weren’t deep enough, so she didn’t learn about any other sects. Thea didn’t dwell on it.
Now that her master mentioned it, Thea thought it made sense, "It is quite strange, but fortune-telling is different from other professions. Maybe it’s all about skills; The Aetherium Sect is famous because their skills are much stronger, and everyone trusts what works, so other sects can’t rise?"
Florence Locke said, "That could be a possibility. I still believe in you."
In their line of work, they all had some instinct to seek benefits and avoid harm; it wasn’t easy for the average person to get involved.
Currently, Thea’s fortune-telling was at most a small-time affair.
It couldn’t compare to the scale of The Aetherium Sect, which could rake in tens of millions easily; each year, followers donated over a billion in incense money to a sect.
This was fundamentally incomparable to Thea.
Thea had no intention of developing into something akin to a sect.
Basically, she didn’t interfere with them, and at least she knew one person from The Aetherium Sect now.
After finishing her chat with Florence, Landon Ford came in from outside, raised his eyebrows with a smile, "The porridge is almost done. If you’re not feeling well and need to have it in bed, I can bring it to you."
His words implied nothing substantial had happened; she was just a bit tired, yet they made it sound like she was very frail!
Thea sprang up like a carp.
She had already changed into a set of couple’s pajamas similar to Landon’s.
It’s hard not to think he had planned it all out.
In the living room, Landon just told her to sit by the table and wait to eat.
The porridge was almost ready, and he had prepared some side dishes for Thea.
While busy, he received a call from his company.
Thea didn’t know what was said on the other end; she only heard the name Ian Quinnell when Landon spoke.
"Deciding to get engaged so quickly? Well, this Ian does have some skill."
His tone carried the usual nonchalance and a hint of wanton sarcasm.
This indicated that he didn’t think much of this person—in fact, with Landon’s tone, he didn’t think much of almost anyone.
Thea listened nearby without genuine curiosity, and after Landon hung up, she asked casually, "Who is Ian Quinnell?"
A name coming from Landon’s mouth usually belonged to someone with a complicated background.
Landon didn’t hide anything: "Warren Ford’s long-hidden illegitimate son."
Thea gasped, "A long-hidden illegitimate son? What’s your dad thinking?"
Hidden, meaning not shown to the public.
If it were someone else, they’d certainly go to great lengths to hide it. For someone like Warren Ford, who spreads his seeds everywhere, whether a child is publicly acknowledged or not doesn’t matter to him, but if he purposely hides a child, it has particular significance.
Landon sneered, "What else could it mean? I didn’t even know about Ian Quinnell’s existence before. If I hadn’t started privately having people track his whereabouts, I wouldn’t have found out."
Usually, a father and son aren’t so guarded against each other.
A son doesn’t meddle in his father’s affairs, and a father doesn’t guard against his son.
The relationship between Warren Ford and Landon Ford is truly hard to describe.
When Landon found out about Ian Quinnell’s existence, he lost the last bit of father-son affection for Warren Ford.
Maintaining superficial peace was only because their grandfather was still alive.
