Chapter 54 Xuexue's Battery is Low
Chapter 54 Xuexue's Battery is Low
Lin Ran scrolled through her phone for a while.
Douyin (TikTok) hasn't been released yet, but there's another short video app. I opened Kuaishou (KS) and heard Tiger shouting, "Leader of the 'Kill Matt' group, let go of my apprentice!!"
Ye Qing is back.
I reminisced about the past of Dongbai.
The sound of water stopped, the bathroom door opened a crack, and hot air rushed out.
Lin Ran suddenly noticed that Su Peixue's pink pajamas were on the bed.
So he turned around, his back to the bathroom.
There was a rustling sound behind him, and then he heard Su Peixue calling his name.
"What's wrong?"
Lin Ran turned around and looked back.
Su Peixue, dressed in pink pajamas, sat obediently on the bed in a duck-like position, her wet long hair plastered to her innocent face.
"Zookeeper, blow-dry Xuexue's fur!"
Lin Ran walked over and plugged it in.
The hairdryer hummed as he ran his hand through her hair, blowing from the roots to the ends.
Her hair was very fine and would get tangled when it was wet; she shrank her neck slightly when I ran my fingers through it.
Lin Ran moved the hairdryer a little further away and continued combing her hair with her fingers, from the top of her head to the back of her head, and from the back of her head to the ends.
The girl's hair was slowly dried in Lin Ran's hands. Su Peixue shook her head, and strands of hair brushed against the back of his hand.
"Xuexue's battery is low, it's shutting down."
Su Peixue leaned to the side and buried her head in the pillow. Her face was buried in the pillow, and her voice was muffled.
Lin Ran pulled the blanket over her. She shrank back, pulling the blanket tighter around herself, curling into a ball. Her hair was spread out on the pillow, and her breathing gradually became even.
When Lin Ran came out of the shower, Su Peixue was already fast asleep, curled up in the same position as before, the blanket pulled up to her chin. He turned off the light, leaving only the bedside lamp on. He lay down on the other side of the bed, with about a pillow between them. There was only one blanket, so he pulled a corner to cover his stomach.
Su Peixue's breathing was very light, yet it had a calming effect on the mind.
I was woken up by the sunlight this morning.
The curtains weren't fully drawn, and a ray of light shone in through the gap.
Su Peixue had somehow ended up next to Lin Ran.
Her head rested against Lin Ran's chest, her hair cascading down his arm. The girl, curled up like a ball, resembled a cat that had found its nest.
Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, illuminating her profile and turning her curled eyelashes a pale gold.
The sleeping girl's lips were slightly parted, revealing a glimpse of her white teeth. Her breathing was light and slow, her chest rising and falling gently, causing the rabbit on her pajamas to rise and fall with it.
Looking at Su Peixue's peaceful sleeping face, Lin Ran was momentarily lost in thought.
His heart skipped a beat, and he took a deep breath.
Lin Ran gently moved her head away from his chest. The sleeping girl wrinkled her delicate nose, stretched her hand out from under the covers, grasped at the air, and then withdrew it.
Lin Ran couldn't help but chuckle at her charming appearance. After realizing what she meant, he shook his head. He and Su Peixue had a completely innocent and simple owner-pet relationship.
It must not spoil!
I washed my face with cold water, and not long after I finished washing up...
Su Peixue's muffled voice came from the room, slightly hoarse from just waking up.
"Zookeeper, I'm hungry~"
Lin Ran hung up the towel and came out of the bathroom. Su Peixue was already sitting up. Her hair was a mess, like a bird's nest, and the neckline of her pajamas was askew, revealing a section of her shoulder. Her eyes were not fully open, and she was squinting at him.
"What are we having for breakfast this morning?"
"Put your clothes on first."
Su Peixue looked down at her collar and pulled it back up.
"I'm dressed, I want to eat potstickers."
"There's no braised chicken in a clay pot this morning."
"Oh, those xiaolongbao."
The school gate was blocked by cars, blocking half the street.
Lin Ran parked the Rongfang in a parking lot of a residential area two streets away, and he and Su Peixue dragged their suitcases toward the school gate.
The sun was scorching in early September, turning the cement pavement white, and the wheels of suitcases made a rumbling sound as they rolled over it.
Today, Su Peixue was wearing the light blue puff-sleeved dress that Xu Wanru had given her, and her hair was tied in a low ponytail as she followed behind Lin Ran.
A red banner was hung on the school gate, which read "Welcome New Students".
The entrance was crowded with people: some dragging suitcases, some carrying bedding, some holding up their phones to make calls, and some being pulled by their parents to take photos.
Volunteers in red vests stood in the sun, holding signs for each college, their work badges hanging around their necks, shouting at the top of their lungs.
"The computer! The computer over here!"
"Law School! Turn left at the law school!"
Lin Ran stopped.
"You on the left, I on the right."
"Zookeeper, Xuexue wants to change her major..."
Su Peixue pouted her pink lips, not wanting to be separated from Lin Ran.
"Why would a girl like you study computer science? Do you want to go bald by thirty? Besides, didn't you choose law as your major?"
"That's because I see the zookeeper is going to do business. If he gets caught breaking the law, I can find a loophole to get him out of trouble."
Lin Ran: "..."
Snow Demon King, please, please have some good wishes for me.
Su Peixue took out a black sun-protective mask from her pocket and put it on, covering half of her face completely, leaving only her almond-shaped eyes exposed.
She dragged her suitcase a few steps to the left, glanced back at Lin Ran, her sky-blue skirt billowed slightly in the wind, and the eyes above her mask curved into a smile before she turned and squeezed into the crowd.
The Computer Science Department's welcome point was at the side entrance of the library, with several folding tables arranged in a row, and the words "School of Computer Science" printed in yellow on the bright red tablecloths.
Three male and one female senior students were sitting behind the table. The female senior was playing on her phone, while the male seniors were distributing bottled water.
Lin Ran handed over the admission notice. The senior student looked up at him, put down her phone, took the notice, and scanned the barcode.
"Lin Ran? Software Engineering Class 2. Your dormitory is in Building 3 of Lanyuan. Here is your campus card, here is your dormitory key, and here is your freshman handbook."
She pulled a kraft paper envelope from under the table; it was bulging with contents.
"Scan the QR code to join the class group. The college's opening ceremony is tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM, and you'll meet your instructors in the afternoon. If you have any questions, please refer to the freshman handbook."
Lin Ran took the envelope.
"Thanks."
"You're welcome. Go to the end of that road from Building 3 of Lanyuan and turn left."
The dormitory building is a six-story gray building with white ceramic tiles on the exterior walls, some of which have turned yellow.
The hallway was filled with the sounds of suitcases being dragged and parents carrying bedding.
Lin Ran found the fourth floor, the room at the end of the corridor, the door was open, and there was already someone inside.
He pushed the suitcase inside.
A boy sat on the lower bunk by the window. He was covered in swoosh logos, of medium build, and his hair was styled with hair gel.
Seeing Lin Ran come in, he stood up, took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, and handed one over.
A Longines watch was visible on his wrist; it had a large dial and a silver bezel that made a clicking sound when it spun.
"Yao Ziwen, from Shanghai." He grinned, revealing a row of neat teeth. "Want to smoke?"
