Chapter 199 Arrival in Nanzhen
Chapter 199 Arrival in Nanzhen
"I'm going out to eat, do you want to come along?"
After the initial awkwardness, Zhou Miao regained her composure.
His two girlfriends had completely drained his temper, and since they hadn't been dating for long and were still very much intriguing, Zhou Miao had long since lost interest in Pei Yunxi.
When he asked her to come along, it was just a casual, polite remark he made after meeting a friend, but Pei Yunxi actually nodded in agreement.
"Okay, I'm actually a little hungry too!"
"Then you can check in first, I'll wait for you in the lobby." Zhou Miao was surprised for a moment, then pointed to the sofa not far away.
"Okay, I'll be right down." Pei Yunxi was actually cursing herself inwardly for being so weak-willed, how could she have agreed to Zhou Miao's invitation so easily.
But since I've already agreed, there's no need to go back on my word; it's just a meal.
Zhou Miao didn't have to wait long. A few minutes later, Pei Yunxi came out of the elevator and jogged over to him.
"What should we eat?"
"Of course, we'll eat meat!"
Zhou Miao, who was starving, just wanted to eat meat and had no intention of trying any local specialties.
"Then let's have a whole roasted lamb. I did some research online before I came and found out there's a place that does it really well."
"Alright, then lead the way."
The place wasn't far; I called a Didi and arrived in about ten minutes. It looked like a barbecue stall, but the storefront was quite large.
Zhou Miao ordered half a sheep, and then he and Pei Yunxi found an empty table to sit down.
While waiting for the food to be served, the two remained silent.
Seeing his silence, Pei Yunxi thought of her school days.
A hint of sadness appeared in her eyes, but her efforts to clear her head during this period had not been without effect.
Since you can't have your white moonlight, just bury this feeling in your heart!
"Hey, we're old friends, is it really appropriate for us to meet without saying a word?"
"I'm hungry, I don't have the strength to talk." Zhou Miao spoke weakly, looking like she was starving and exhausted.
He was particularly flustered at this moment, especially when he smelled the aroma of barbecue in the store, he felt like his eyes were turning green.
"What? How long has it been since you ate?" Pei Yunxi suddenly found it absurd.
She thought the man wasn't taking the initiative because he wanted to avoid suspicion and keep his distance from her, but she never expected that he was simply too hungry to talk.
"It's been a day..."
Zhou Miao clutched his stomach and swallowed hard. It wouldn't be so bad if he were just too hungry, but right now his body was in the state where he most wanted to eat.
"Let me order some side dishes for you first. The food will be served much faster, and you can have something to eat."
Pei Yunxi found it funny, but seeing his expression, she finally got up to help him order.
A little while later, she brought over a plate of boiled peanuts and a plate of smashed cucumber.
Zhou Miao immediately picked up his chopsticks and started eating, but the vegetarian food did not satisfy his hunger.
Fortunately, because business was good, the whole roasted lamb was prepared in advance, and he had only eaten half of it when the other half of the lamb he ordered was delivered.
Finally getting to eat meat, every cell in Zhou Miao's body was radiating joy.
This emotion directly infected Pei Yunxi, making her smile as she ate her meat, and she suddenly felt grateful for this encounter.
At least at this moment, there was no one in their way.
A dozen minutes later, Zhou Miao let out a long breath. He had something in his stomach, and the feeling of being so hungry that he felt anxious had disappeared.
"Have you eaten yet, senior?"
"It's alright, I can eat some more."
"Senior, what brings you here all of a sudden? This is where dreams begin, and where dreams come true."
"There was a typhoon in Nanzhen, so I came fishing with Brother Zhou. There's a school of yellowtail here, and we caught quite a few this time."
"I see, is it just the two of you?"
"Xiaoxiao and Qianqian are playing in the city. We're going to visit them tomorrow and then go back to Nanzhen together."
"They're here too?"
"Um!"
"Senior, may I ask who you ultimately chose?"
"They are all my girlfriends."
"!!!"
Pei Yunxi was stunned. She had thought Zhou Miao had chosen one of them, but she didn't expect him to choose both!
She couldn't believe it: "The two of them would agree?"
"Not only did they agree, but they also got along very well."
Zhou Miao's words completely silenced Pei Yunxi, leaving her in a state of confusion, unsure of what to say.
Zhou Miao continued eating his roasted lamb, and in less than half an hour, he had almost finished half of the whole roasted lamb on the table.
He ate almost everything; Pei Yunxi only tasted it.
After finishing his meal and paying the bill, Zhou Miao prepared to return to the hotel, lie down for a while, and then continue sleeping. The afternoon nap he took after staying up all night wouldn't allow him to fully recover.
Pei Yunxi followed him silently, hesitant to speak.
If a man marries one woman while having affairs on the side, she wouldn't find it strange; such situations are all too common in society today.
But the situation between Zhou Miao and Lu Xiaoxiao, even if it shattered Pei Yunxi's values, still left her feeling incredulous.
So she didn't say a word on the way back, and Zhou Miao was happy to have some peace and quiet.
Back at the hotel, the two went upstairs and separated, returning to their respective rooms.
Zhou Miao lay in bed and sent messages to Lu Xiaoxiao and the others, arranging to meet at the airport the next day. They chatted for a while, and then went back to sleep after feeling sleepy.
The next morning at six o'clock, he left a message for Pei Yunxi before heading to the airport with Yu Muzhou.
When we got back to Nanzhen, it was only 10 a.m.
Standing on the dock, Zhou Miao stared blankly at the various fish rafts in front of him. He hadn't expected that the typhoon's direct landfall would have had almost no impact on the fish rafts here.
So far, we've only seen a few unfortunate people whose roofs were blown off by the typhoon, and they're currently getting repairs done.
"I didn't expect the typhoon's impact to be so small; I thought most of the fish rafts would be affected!"
Luo Qianqian hadn't expected him to think that way, and immediately explained, "How could that be? This area has always been used for aquaculture on fish rafts. It's been over thirty years, and we have a lot of experience dealing with typhoons. In the past, at most the fish tanks would get smashed and the fish would escape."
"As for fish rafts, I've never heard of anyone's being destroyed by a typhoon in my life. At most, they might suffer some damage due to bad luck."
"Then it seems we don't need to worry about our fish rafts anymore." Lu Xiaoxiao breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
Although she had a lot of fun these past two days, she still missed the fish raft at home.
Even though Lu Xingyu had told them that the fish raft was fine, they still couldn't put their minds at ease until they saw it with their own eyes.
"Let's go check out the fish rafts! The weather's nice today, let's air out the blankets and stuff, and we'll stay in the cabins tonight." Luo Qianqian was the first to board the speedboat.
Of the two small boats, the shabby one had disappeared, indicating that Lu Xingyu had already reached the fishing raft.
"Then you guys go ahead with your work, I'll head back now. Let me know when the refrigerated truck arrives." After saying that, Yu Muzhou waved to them and drove straight home.
After watching him leave, Zhou Miao moved the luggage of the three of them onto the speedboat and arrived at the Xuan Gui Fishing Raft.
Because they didn't come back, Lu Xingyu didn't resume business, after all, one person can't handle everything.
He was fishing here at the moment, waiting to feed the sea turtles in the evening.
