Chapter 2 Calling for People
Chapter 2 Calling for People
In the pitch-black, frigid night, the howling wind from the helicopter shattered the snow-buried ruins of the vast old village. Several dark-faced men leaped out of the cabin and headed straight for the solitary house at the end of the village, nestled against the top of a mountain ridge.
Lu Chi lazily nestled in a useless beanbag chair made of moose hide and solid wood: "You're here? Have you eaten?"
Several dark-faced men exchanged glances, their gazes finally settling on the only guy in uniform with punctuation marks. Qiao Shao took a deep breath, his face contorted with embarrassment, and began babbling incoherently, "Young Master, no, ah, how did you manage to turn things like this? How did you end up bringing back a living person? How am I supposed to explain this? How am I supposed to get rid of him?"
Yes, Master Lu's professional title is a bit high.
"What the hell are you doing, going back and forth like that? Does your mouth have a speedometer, sometimes fast, sometimes slow? I went through so much trouble to save him, and you just decide to get rid of his brain like that? Ha! Tsk! Military officers talk big, huh!" Lu Chi glanced at the new epaulets on the other man's black uniform: "He's in the inner room upstairs. After you've finished asking questions and signing, get the hell out of here!"
"No, young master, I..."
"I got a rough idea of what happened, nothing special, not much useful information. But since I've been in there once before, and isn't it said that deep memory can be used with hypnosis or something?"
Qiao Shao's mental preparation before coming here suddenly collapsed: "Hypnosis... ε=(´ο`*)))... Forget it, I'd better go check on the person first!"
"Hey! Come back here! Let her go!"
"A woman?" Qiao Shao winked, signaling another unlucky guy with the same unique attribute to go in and rescue her, while he plopped down on a single sofa. "There's no record of this kind of thing anywhere else?"
"They have some kind of record; who knows where they've been burning incense and worshipping gods to survive this long? Their ancestors down there must be banging their heads against the wall!" Lu Chi scoffed. "If you want, go ask them yourselves!"
Qiao Shao quickly interjected, "Young Master, Young Master, that's not what I meant. It's just that this is the first time we've ever dealt with this kind of thing, and we have no experience in this area. If you dare touch those documents in the warehouse, they'll smash your hand. Besides, who else but you would dare to mess with that old man? Please, have mercy and leave us a way out, okay?"
"Just do it the way you normally would. Don't you know how to do it the same way? Get all the paperwork done. Also, she came back from Yakutsk; there's a crew there. You should check and submit the application first!"
"No? What? Grandpa, explain to me what the production team is?"
The female soldier who had just gone in came back out, her face showing the kind of excitement one would expect from family members who had finally gotten food for their loved ones: "Um, boss, she's alright. She's a little swollen, but if I'm not mistaken, she should be... she is..."
Qiao Shao, utterly dejected, said, "Which celebrity is it? Things are already like this; as long as we can handle it, who cares who it is!"
"Bo Caiyan!"
"Who?"
"Boss, she's not a celebrity, you have to call her an entertainer!"
"I...you...she...no..."

Lu Chi straightened up and looked at Xiao Bai: "Does he have connections?"
Under Lu Chi's gaze, Xiao Bai immediately shrank back like a quail, fidgeting with her fingers and saying softly with her head down, "Hey, Grandpa, you don't know Bo Caiyan? Yes, you do! She's involved with the military... and seems to have a pretty legitimate and close relationship with our organization..."
Lu Chi also started counting on his fingers, his eyes glazed over as he tried to remember: "Bo...surname Bo...oh right...that's very close...Young Master, it's up to you!"
Qiao Shao nearly spat out a mouthful of blood. He really couldn't handle this. Gritting his teeth, he forced out a few dry words through his mouth without opening it: "I'll contact them! No! Call for backup!"
"There are a few jars of mushrooms and kidney-tonifying herbs on that cabinet. They were just picked from the mountains a while ago. Take them to your dad. He was rock hard when he worked with my dad. How come he's so young and already useless? Look at the new village down the mountain, there are still several strong young men in their late twenties who can still beat people up with crutches!"
"My dad has always been in good health, but he was recently diagnosed with a minor heart problem and needs to rest. Also, my dad said that his mental health issues all stemmed from being scared while working with you and Grandpa!"
"Get lost before I beat you up!"
"I haven't finished my business yet, why should I leave? No offense, but you're incredibly lazy. That's not how your grandfather and great-grandfather do things—"
"I have no food here! You want me to teach you? Or how about I take you to meet them while I'm at it?"
"I can do it myself! Wait! Grandpa, what are you planning to do if you're not eating New Year's Eve dinner?"
"What the heck??"
With a snap, Lu Chi sprang straight up from the sofa, about a meter high, just like a fish whipping its tail, creating a very obvious moment of suspended motion.
Qiao Shao's eyes widened suddenly: Damn it, what the hell is this power level? What the hell is this explosive power? Is this even human?
Xiao Bai's eyes widened suddenly: Beautiful body! Beautiful body! Beautiful body!
Lu Chi frantically turned on his phone, which was charging. A torrent of ringing sounds followed, quickly joined by various app notifications: "It's already 9:40! Turn on the TV, turn on the lights, turn on all the lights inside and outside the house, including the watchtower! The cutting board is in the kitchen, the dough is in the storage room, dig the meat out of the snowdrift, cut some shepherd's purse and chives from the greenhouse, let's make dumplings! Hurry, hurry, don't just stand there, get moving!"
A few hours earlier, at the foot of the mountain, in Lihuashan New Village.
Bo Chunyu stared in despair at the vast white snow path. The dark and deep forests on both sides of the so-called road seemed like ancient ferocious beasts ready to devour her. In the last ripples of the vehicle's turn lights, two eerie shadows, like demons, gnawed at the forest. Occasionally, she could even see the footprints of unknown creatures crossing the snow path. A primitive, wild, and terrifying atmosphere, which even a carbon-based monkey living in a steel forest could hardly feel in its nightmares, rushed over her, oppressively seizing her already meager SAN value.
"Is this New Year's? This is clearly a festival! A tribulation! Bo Caiyan, this little miss wishes she could kill you!" She muttered enough, took a deep breath, but was choked by a chilling cold that felt like it was piercing her lungs, and suddenly coughed violently: "Master, Eighth Master, are you sure this is the place?"
The burly old man with a thick beard and long hair gave a shout ahead, but didn't turn around. He just walked into the mountains without looking back, his head and beard whitened by ice crystals.
"Hey sir... wait... wait for me... I... I'm scared..."
