Chapter 85 Has this kid become intelligent?
When Lu Zhaoye returned from the restroom, he saw from afar that the corridor of Class 1 was packed with people.
Standing at the very front was Old Zhang, with his hands behind his back and a serious expression on his face.
The students in the class behind me were whispering among themselves.
"Oh no, I'm doomed. Will they find my MP3 player?"
"I'm dying of laughter. I told you I was going to check your phones today, but you didn't believe me."
"But there's been no news about checking the phone at all today. Who's going to believe your wild guesses?"
Lu Zhaoye turned his gaze to the classroom, where three teachers were searching around with metal detectors, but judging from their expressions, they didn't seem to have found anything.
If this were the old Class 7, they would probably have collected a whole basketful of cell phones and earphones.
However, at that moment, Lu Zhaoye suddenly felt a force on his back. He turned around and saw his classmate Xu Qingwan standing behind him with a worried look on her face.
"Lu Zhaoye, my phone is inside, what should I do?"
Xu Qingwan never expected that a teacher would check phones. When she was in Class 7, no teacher ever checked phones. They would just pass by her class, so Xu Qingwan never paid any attention to it.
Lu Zhaoye paused for a moment, then frowned and asked, "Why didn't you leave your phone in your dorm?"
"I...I just happened to bring it with me today," Xu Qingwan said, feeling wronged.
Lu Zhaoye sighed and rubbed his forehead, unsure of what to say.
He took his phone out of his pocket and, under the shocked gazes of his classmates, whispered to Xu Qingwan,
"From now on, you must carry this kind of thing with you at all times, understand?"
Xu Qingwan stood there dumbfounded, staring blankly at Lu Zhaoye's phone and nodding woodenly.
"Old Zhang, we found one in the back row, inside the desk." A voice called out from inside the classroom.
Everyone looked away from Lu Zhaoye's phone and turned to look inside the classroom.
"Isn't that... Xu Qingwan's seat?"
"I don't know, but Lu Zhaoye always seems to sit in that spot."
The surrounding classmates were talking amongst themselves. Xu Qingwan lowered her head, so her expression could not be seen. She gripped the hem of her school uniform short-sleeved shirt tightly with both hands, and sighed inwardly, preparing to accept the punishment.
At this moment, Lao Zhang also recognized that it was Xu Qingwan's location. He frowned and prepared to go in.
However, a shadow suddenly flashed past him.
"Teacher, I was wrong. This is my phone. I'm so sorry."
Zhang Jianhua's face darkened. He didn't even need to look closely to know who it was. He cursed at the dark figure who rushed into the classroom.
"Lu Zhaoye, bring your phone and come out with me. Everyone else, go back to the classroom to study."
Xu Qingwan watched Lu Zhaoye leave with a grin, following Director Zhang, and seemed to be deep in thought.
......
......
"Your phone is confiscated. Come back to me for it after this semester," Old Zhang said coldly, shoving his phone back into his desk as he sat in his office chair.
Lu Zhaoye didn't dare to say a word, his smile fading as he nodded earnestly in assurance, "Old Zhang..."
"What, Old Zhang?"
"Director Zhang, I promise I won't bring my phone again and will resolutely maintain a good learning environment. Regarding the mistakes I made today, I have the following points to deeply reflect on: First..."
"Alright, alright, you're really putting on a convincing act," Zhang Jianhua interrupted Lu Zhaoye, then said irritably.
"Can't you just study properly? You finally got into the intensive course, can't you give me a break?"
Old Gao sat on the other side, smiling as he watched Lu Zhaoye, but before he could finish his smile, Old Zhang also cursed at him.
"It's all because Lao Gao spoiled you. But let me tell you, Lao Gao isn't your real father. If I really want to beat you up, no one can stop me, you know that?"
Old Gao quickly turned around and went back to work.
Lu Zhaoye nodded repeatedly, admitting his mistake and saying that he would never do it again.
After Zhang Jianhua continued rambling for a while, he finally stopped.
A brief silence fell over the office. Zhang Jianhua took a sip of tea before continuing, changing the subject...
"The preliminary rounds are in a few days. Are you ready? Also, what do you think about Xu Ziqing participating?"
"I remember this child didn't want to participate before, was it you who caused this?"
Seeing that the topic had been changed, Lu Zhaoye immediately resumed his cheerful demeanor, pulled over a chair, and sat down.
"I swear to God, I really didn't do this. I even advised Xu Ziqing not to participate."
"Look, Lao Zhang, Xu Ziqing is blind, so she already needs to expend more energy than us. Why would she waste her time participating in a competition that has a very low cost-effectiveness? It might not be worth it."
Zhang Jianhua nodded from his seat; Lu Zhaoye's thinking on this point was quite mature.
"But Xu Ziqing said she wants to go, so of course I, as the eldest, support her," Lu Zhaoye paused, his smile gradually fading.
"Besides, as a blind person, she probably hasn't been out for a long time. She should go out and see the world."
Everyone in the office was silent, but fortunately, Lu Zhaoye reacted quickly and immediately continued speaking.
"Alright, Lao Zhang, don't worry, just watch how I bring back a few awards."
"You brat," Old Zhang said with a laugh as he came to his senses.
"By the way, Lao Zhang, about that 50,000 yuan bonus you mentioned..." Lu Zhaoye rubbed his hands together, looking like a money-grubber.
"What's wrong?" Zhang Jianhua rolled his eyes. "I won't go back on my word."
"Okay, but you're not going to wait until I get the provincial award to give me this bonus, are you?" Lu Zhaoye asked doubtfully.
Zhang Jianhua was quite helpless. He hadn't expected that Lu Zhaoye was really after money. "I'll give it to you as long as you can get a city award."
"That's good," Lu Zhaoye breathed a sigh of relief, he was still quite confident about the city competition.
"Just out of curiosity, what are you going to do with this prize money? I don't think your family is short of money, are you?" Zhang Jianhua asked.
Seeing this, Lu Zhaoye didn't want to hide it anymore. "I want to get Xu Ziqing's eyes treated. I can't just watch my little brother carry around a cane all the time."
Zhang Jianhua and Lao Gao behind him were both stunned, clearly not expecting this answer.
"Besides, this money was originally intended for her, right? How can you give such a large bonus just for winning a city award?" Lu Zhaoye said with a smile.
Looking at the smile on Lu Zhaoye's face, Zhang Jianhua suddenly realized that it wasn't the kind of smugness he usually displayed, but rather a kind of confidence and arrogance emanating from within.
"Don't worry, I, Lu Zhaoye, am not such a heartless person. I've done so many wrong things in the past, so I should do more good things in the future."
"Besides, Xu Ziqing is my younger brother."
After saying that, Lu Zhaoye stood up, pushed open the door, and left.
"Old Zhang, I suddenly can't figure this brat out anymore," Old Gao muttered.
Zhang Jianhua chuckled and looked at the office door, saying with a smile,
"Yeah, I always feel that this brat is sometimes very cautious and mature, but sometimes he's also very arrogant and confident."
"Could it be... that he/she has gained intelligence?"
The two looked at each other and smiled, both shaking their heads, but their smiles were genuinely heartfelt.
Regardless, this is a good thing, a very good thing.
