Chapter 404 - 405: Audience with the Dragon Emperor!
Chapter 404 - 405: Audience with the Dragon Emperor!
In that instant, he thought again of the fear of being dominated by Veridia back in the City of Chaos.
This feeling... was way too familiar!
Back then, he’d felt that same mountain-heavy pressure from Veridia.
But he hadn’t backed down at the time; he’d gone straight in!
Yet the result was...
He’d lost so badly it was beyond pathetic!
Now, facing this Twelve-Winged Angel before him, that familiar sense of an insurmountable gap in Power once again surfaced vividly!
"No... no way?!"
Keck’s mouth twitched uncontrollably.
His Talent had already been raised to Myth Five Stars!
This was basically the Peak of known Talent in the Alternate Space!
As long as the other side didn’t have Myth Talent, then even if their Level was higher than his, with the advantage of his Dragon Clan bloodline, he still had the strength to fight!
"Wait a sec!" Keck suddenly raised his hand, stopping Lazuli who was about to move, and asked warily:
"Your Talent... it’s not Myth Level, is it?"
Hearing that, a strange look flashed across Lazuli’s stunning face.
She tilted her head slightly, looked at this nervous Dragonkin, and gently shook her head.
Her Talent was Origin; strictly speaking, it indeed wasn’t Myth Level.
Seeing Lazuli shake her head in denial, the huge boulder hanging in Keck’s heart landed with a heavy "thud," and he exhaled a long breath of relief!
As long as it wasn’t Myth Talent, it was fine!
So that terrifying sense of pressure just now was probably an illusion, or maybe some kind of special aura technique of hers!
His confidence instantly came back!
His goal was to prove his value to Aster Grant, not to come here just to get stomped!
"In that case, sorry about this!"
Keck hesitated no longer; with a low roar, the Dragon Blood in his body boiled!
The aura of a King Sixth Tier erupted in full; dark-gold Dragon Scales gleamed with metallic luster, his muscles bulging!
He stomped off the ground, his figure shooting out like a fired cannonball, charging straight for Lazuli!
This strike condensed the power of his Dragon Clan Awakening.
His Speed was so fast he left afterimages, his Power enough to shake mountains!
Even an ordinary Half-Step Totem powerhouse wouldn’t dare take this blow head-on!
However, he was facing Lazuli.
Watching Keck rush over with such overwhelming momentum, a hint of hesitation flashed in Lazuli’s eyes.
It had been a long time since she’d fought someone with such a ridiculous gap in strength.
How should she make her move?
Use the Destruction Law?
One touch might be enough to reduce this Dragonkin to ashes on the spot.
Just pure physical strength?
She’d still have to carefully control her force, in case she accidentally beat this "old acquaintance" to death...
While Lazuli was debating whether to use a tenth of her strength or just one percent, Keck’s fist had already slammed toward her!
Lazuli didn’t even assume any defensive stance; she simply lifted her hand casually.
Acting after, yet arriving first!
She precisely grabbed Keck’s fist in one smooth motion!
"Buzz!"
The violent collision he’d imagined never came.
Keck only felt like his fist had struck an unbreakable wall!
All of his impact, at the very instant it met her palm, vanished without a trace like a clay ox sinking into the sea!
He couldn’t even make her arm tremble in the slightest!
The absolute difference in Power between the two was laid bare in that moment!
Keck’s pupils shrank sharply, his face full of shock:
"How is this possible?!"
Before he could snap out of his shock, Lazuli gave a tiny tug with the hand gripping his fist.
Her other palm, looking light as a feather, pressed forward and landed squarely on his chest.
No flashy moves, no Law fluctuations, just the purest, most basic physical strength.
Yet this seemingly casual push, in Keck’s perception, felt like being hit head-on by a falling star!
"Boom——!!!"
A deep, muffled crash!
Keck didn’t even have time to let out a scream.
His whole body shot backward like a kite with its string cut, flying back even faster than he’d come.
He finally smashed, hard and solid, into a massive stone pillar at Dragon Island’s entrance that would take several people to encircle!
"Crack... rumble!"
The supposedly indestructible stone pillar was forcibly smashed into a shocking, gaping crater, rubble flying everywhere!
Keck was embedded in the pit like part of a mural, and only after a long moment did he slowly slide down to the ground.
He suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, his face turning deathly pale in an instant, his aura withering to the extreme.
Lazuli silently withdrew her hand and clasped it behind her back, her fingertips twitching slightly:
"Feels like... I still used a bit too much strength?"
"I should’ve tried using just one percent of my Power..."
Only after quite a while did Keck’s body slowly recover.
Clutching his chest, which hurt so badly it felt like it was going to shatter, he limped over to Aster Grant.
He lowered his head, not daring to meet Aster Grant’s eyes:
"Aster... cough, cough, Lord Aster Grant, you... you can just go in from here, the Dragon Island core area is right inside."
"I... I suddenly remembered I have some urgent business to attend to, so I won’t bother you any longer!"
With that, without waiting for Aster Grant to respond, he practically rolled and crawled as he fled in panic toward the depths of Dragon Island.
His Speed was even faster than when he’d charged earlier.
Only one thought remained in Keck’s mind:
Next time!
No! There will be no next time!
For the rest of this life, he must never challenge that monster human Aster Grant again!
The Beastbond partners around him were each more ridiculous than the last!
Aster Grant, Lazuli, and the others looked at each other, then at Keck’s vanishing back, all momentarily speechless.
Aster Grant had originally hoped this Keck could help lead the way, but that was clearly not happening now.
"Forget it. Since the Dragon Emperor is the lord of the Dragon Clan, his location must be the most central and most conspicuous place on Dragon Island. We’ll just head straight for the central area."
Aster Grant shook his head helplessly and led the group onward.
However, what they saw and heard along the way only made everyone feel more and more that something was off.
They encountered quite a few Dragon Clan members.
Yet when those dragons saw Aster Grant’s group—clearly outsiders, humans with Beastbonds—their reaction was surprisingly uniform...
No questioning, no blocking, no hostility.
They simply retreated silently to either side of the road, watching them with a gaze that was complex and hard to read.
And then...
They voluntarily made way, opening up a path leading straight to the core area for them!
Vera couldn’t help sidling up to Aster Grant, her emerald-green eyes full of confusion as she muttered under her breath:
"Master, aren’t dragons supposed to be the most arrogant and xenophobic Race?"
"So how come along the way it feels like... they’re all welcoming us?"
"Or rather, they’re tacitly letting us in? This is way too strange!"
Aster Grant frowned slightly, just as puzzled in his heart.
This reception was nothing like what intruders in the domain of a powerful Race should get.
With questions churning in their minds, the group finally arrived at the deepest part of Dragon Island.
Before them loomed a colossal mountain range, soaring into the clouds, its mass exuding an ancient and majestic aura.
At the entrance of the range stood two Dragon Clan powerhouses whose auras were deep and unfathomable, clearly at Totem Peak.
When Aster Grant approached, these two powerful dragons did not release any hostility.
Instead, they stepped forward in unison and respectfully bent their massive bodies:
"Honorable Lord Aster Grant, His Majesty the Dragon Emperor has been waiting in the hall for some time. Please follow us."
Aster Grant’s heart trembled!
The Dragon Emperor really did know they were coming!
Moreover, it seemed he had already foreseen that they would arrive at this exact time!
The unobstructed journey all the way here finally had an explanation!
Thinking of the Dragon Emperor’s unfathomable power, comparable to a Demon God, Aster Grant felt a bit more at ease.
With the Dragon Emperor’s Realm, knowing they had entered Dragon Island and predicting their movements was no difficult task.
"I’ll trouble you to lead the way."
However, when Lazuli, Vera, and the others tried to follow Aster Grant inside, they were stopped by a raised hand from the two dragon guards.
"Our apologies, everyone. His Majesty the Dragon Emperor has decreed that this time only Lord Aster Grant is invited inside for an audience. Please wait here."
Hearing this, Vera’s pretty face instantly chilled, a flicker of displeasure flashing through her emerald eyes.
Aster Grant saw this and hurriedly raised his hand to stop her.
He looked at Lazuli and Vera. "You two wait for me outside."
"Relax. If His Majesty the Dragon Emperor meant me harm, he wouldn’t need to go to all this trouble."
Lazuli met Aster Grant’s gaze and slowly nodded.
Vera was still a bit unwilling, but seeing Aster Grant’s firm attitude, she could only pout and agree.
Aster Grant then gave them a reassuring look, turned around, and followed the two dragon guards into the depths of the mountain range.
