Chapter 736 - 722: Turning the Tables (Part 7)

"Lei, Lei!" Qiao Shan’s low call pulled He Lei back from his golden dreams, clearly displeasing the latter. He grumbled unhappily, "What the hell do you want?"

Qiao Shan caught the annoyance in the other’s voice and slightly bowed, "Lei, there are still three guys downstairs we haven’t dealt with. What do you think we should do?"

"Damn, just three f***ing punks, what are we afraid of? There’s so many of us; we could drown them with spit," Peng Fei said dismissively.

Qiao Shan shook his head in disagreement, "You can’t say that. Those three guys aren’t much of a threat, but don’t forget they have support outside. Besides, Lei said their firepower isn’t bad, so we shouldn’t take the risk of waiting for the guys downstairs to call in outside help before we act."

"Shit, those guys outside are just seven people. Add those three, and they’re nothing. Qiao Shan, you graduated elementary school, right? Don’t you know this simple math? And even if those punks have decent firepower, so what? Our weapons aren’t just for show!" Peng Fei continued with his sarcastic tone.

"Enough with the noise, everyone shut up!" He Lei barked, stopping their argument. He picked up his hand-held radio and pressed the talk button, "What’s going on downstairs? Any movement from those bastards? Over!"

"Lei, nothing! Over!"

"Okay, got it, keep watching! Over!"

Qiao Shan was right, the three guys downstairs needed to be dealt with, and it had to be done quietly. Spring Xiu’s group was not to be underestimated. If it wasn’t necessary, He Lei didn’t plan to engage in a direct confrontation. But what to do? He Lei fell into thought, racking his brain but failing to come up with some unexpected plan to kill the enemy. When he snapped back to reality, he found himself still in the chairman’s office.

Upon entering the room, the subordinates responsible for watching over four hostages all nodded respectfully to He Lei, "Hello, Lei!"

He Lei nodded with satisfaction, but with something on his mind, he said little. He glared at the four hostages kneeling in a row, the fury rising in him. He gave each a solid kick, demanding loudly, "Who the hell has a plan to take care of those guys downstairs?"

Peng Fei shuffled over to He Lei with a laugh, trying to appease him, "Lei, calm down. Those downstairs aren’t a big deal. Give me six people, and I’ll go down there and bring back their heads for you!"

After saying this, he glanced triumphantly at Qiao Shan, as if to show that such a small matter should not be a problem.

However, Qiao Shan closed his eyes in sympathy, and before Peng Fei realized what was happening, he felt a strong blow to the back of his head, knocking him to the ground.

"Damn it, are you brain-dead? I might as well chop off that head of yours, didn’t you understand what Qiao Shan just said? We need to surprise them. If you go like this, are they fools? Before you even act, they will have sent out an alarm. Are you trying to make a bigger mess for me?"

"No, no, Lei, I didn’t mean it like that, I just wanted..."

"Enough, I don’t want to hear any more pig shit! Does anyone have a plan to deal with those guys downstairs?" He Lei vented his anger with another kick at Peng Fei before grabbing a beer and downing it.

Qiao Shan watched Peng Fei’s miserable state, amused. He already had a plan for the enemy; Peng Fei had just stirred things up, preventing him from speaking. But now seemed a good time, since not having this idiot involved would highlight Qiao Shan’s competence.

He stepped forward and said, "Lei, I have an idea. We could give it a try."

He Lei hated when people beat around the bush, so he didn’t give Qiao Shan a pleasant look either and sneered, "Speak up, no need to be coy!"

"Oh, right!" Qiao Shan didn’t expect He Lei’s reaction and didn’t dare delay, quickly replying, "Here’s the thing. Lei, didn’t you send someone up to say you’d deal with our group?"

"Yeah, I did say that. So what?"

"Haha, we can use that against them. We still have these six idiots here. We can have them pretend to escort us down for execution. Once we get close to the main entrance, we can take the three at the door by surprise. What do you think?"

He Lei listened, downed two gulps of beer, and clapped his hands, "Brilliant, let’s do it as you suggested. But four of them will be enough. We’ll send eight down to play it safe; I’ll lead the team."

With the plan set, it was time to prepare the kneeling guards. He Lei was skilled at this and didn’t need a gun this time. He drew a knife from one of his men and slowly waved it in front of the guards, the sharp blade glinting menacingly.

"You all heard what I said, right? I hope you’ll cooperate. But if not, that’s fine, though your lives, well, hmm!" He Lei gave a menacing hum, "Have you heard of lingchi? Oh, I’ve never tried that before. If you’d like, I wouldn’t mind experimenting on you. That feeling will definitely meet your expectations."

Most of the time, the scariest thing isn’t the actual threat of weapons but the words people use. Just a few words from He Lei made the guards deeply unsettled. Their mouths sealed, they couldn’t speak, only wide-eyed and nodding furiously to show their understanding.

"Well, have you all given it serious thought?"

He Lei scanned the room and walked up to the first person, raising the knife to their face, making their eyes look about to burst.

He Lei seemed to enjoy taunting his target, moving the knife up and down their face, and when the time seemed right, flipped the knife and cut the knot sealing their lips.

"Speak, are you willing to cooperate?"

"Willing, Lei, I’m willing!"

"And you? Willing?"

"Lei, I’m willing! Please, give me a chance to live!"

He Lei cut the bonds of the four, all agreeing eagerly to cooperate.

"Good, very smart. I hope you do the same later. But let me tell you upfront, I’m not afraid of those three downstairs, so if you’re thinking of trying something when we get down there, well, you are welcome to try. I assure you, you won’t be disappointed!"

He said that while subtly exposing the gun at his waist, leaving no room for misinterpretation.

Though he said it, He Lei trusted these four wouldn’t dare pull any stunts.

Besides, he wasn’t afraid of the guys downstairs, even if they did sense something was up and informed Spring Xiu. There was always the option of going down in a blaze of glory.

With men and guns on his side, there was no need to hesitate like before.

"Lei, these are the guns we searched from these guys!" A subordinate placed two Type 54 pistols on the coffee table before He Lei.

"Excellent!" He Lei considered inwardly. Now he was truly a bandit king with 22 men and 7 guns. What was there to fear?

"Let’s go, brothers, let’s eliminate those remaining three bastards!" He Lei casually handed a gun to each of his three remaining trusted men.

A group of 18, led by four guards pretending to oversee them, majestically headed towards the downstairs. (To be continued.
