Chapter 762 A Representative of the Celestial Empire of Velgranth
Chapter 762 A Representative of the Celestial Empire of Velgranth
The Western Continent…
Whoosh!
Rei and his army finally arrived at the outskirts of the Western Continent.
However, they soon realized they were not alone—seven other armies had already gathered there.
"Welcome, Hero of Light and Hero of Darkness." Several generals from different kingdoms greeted them respectfully.
Rei gave a faint smile and nodded.
"Thank you for the welcome. How long have you been here?" he asked.
One of the generals, a man named Rezard, stepped forward and replied, "My troops and I have been stationed here for a month now, Hero of Light. We received orders from the kingdom to prepare for a massive attack in the near future, and it seems those orders were correct."
The other generals quickly shared the information they had gathered, and before long, Rei had learned quite a bit from them.
"By the way, Hero of Light, there is important news you should know," Rezard said respectfully.
"Go ahead," Rei replied with a nod.
"A representative from the Celestial Empire of Velgranth has arrived and wishes to meet with you. What do you think?"
Rei and Lucas were slightly surprised. The Celestial Empire of Velgranth was known as a neutral power among the dragon races.
They had never involved themselves in the war against the demon race, as they believed the demons were incapable of threatening them.
So the fact that they now wished to meet could only mean one thing—they intended to gain something from humanity's attack on the Demon Empire's fortress.
"I understand. Please take me to the representative," Rei said calmly.
Rezard and the other generals nodded before leading Rei and Lucas toward the meeting place.
Watching the two of them leave, Roseline smiled faintly and muttered, "A representative of the dragon race, huh? This will be a great opportunity to increase our chances of victory in the upcoming attack."
Evalyn turned to her and asked, "Why are you so certain of the Celestial Empire of Velgranth's good intentions, Ancestor? Aren't you worried they might have a sinister motive behind their arrival?"
Roseline chuckled softly and patted her shoulder.
"That possibility does exist, but the chances are very small. You must understand that ever since the rise of the Demon Emperor, the dragon race has suffered tremendous losses. Some of their territories have even been seized by the demon race. In truth, they could have confronted the demons long ago, but their pride would never allow it. You understand what I mean, don't you?"
She glanced at Evalyn meaningfully.
After thinking over her words for a moment, Evalyn immediately understood what Roseline meant.
The dragon race was a superior race that possessed immense pride.
They firmly believed the demon race could never defeat them, and that was exactly why they chose not to get involved in the war.
But was that really true?
Of course not.
The demon race had grown at an unbelievable rate, far faster than anyone had expected, while the dragon race had completely failed to keep up.
Without even noticing it, the race they once looked down on had already become strong enough to make them feel threatened.
Even then, they still refused to admit it. Instead, they chose to stay out of the conflict and avoid confronting the demons directly.
But their inaction only gave the demon race more time to grow stronger and harder to control.
In the end, the dragon race could no longer sit back and watch. They had no choice but to send a representative to meet Rei and Lucas.
"By the way, Evalyn, let's go watch that meeting. I'm sure it isn't recorded in your era's history, is it?" Roseline said with a faint smile.
"Huh? Me?" Evalyn pointed at herself. "Is that okay?"
"Of course." Roseline giggled softly and pulled her along. "You're one of the key figures in this assault. So don't feel inferior."
The two of them eventually arrived at a vast area filled with soldiers and generals from various factions.
Their arrival immediately drew attention. Aside from their striking appearances, Roseline's identity as both a princess and a representative of the Great Velmora Empire was the main reason.
"Welcome, Your Highness," the generals greeted her respectfully.
Roseline nodded slightly. "Where is the meeting?"
A general pointed ahead. "Over there, Your Highness. Would you like me to accompany you?"
Roseline waved her hand. "No need. Thank you."
She walked past the generals, and Evalyn quickly followed behind her.
"Who is she? Why is she so close to the princess?"
"I don't know. Maybe she's someone sent by the imperial court, or perhaps Her Highness's personal guard."
"That would make sense."
Whispers spread among the surrounding soldiers.
Evalyn remained unconcerned and continued walking behind Roseline.
After the two figures disappeared into the distance, the generals exchanged puzzled glances.
"Does anyone know who that woman is?" one of them asked.
"No. I've never seen her before," another general replied.
The atmosphere fell into silence. Although none of them knew Evalyn's identity, they were certain she was no ordinary person.
Soon after, Evalyn and Roseline arrived at the meeting area.
Rei and Lucas stood facing a handsome young man with light gray hair.
He was tall, and his appearance was not much different from that of an ordinary human.
However, two small horns on his forehead revealed his identity as a member of the dragon race.
"So, what is your proposal, Prince Arnold?" Rei asked politely and calmly.
He had not expected the visitor to be one of the princes of the Celestial Empire of Velgranth—Arnold.
He was the First Prince and also the most mysterious figure in the empire.
His existence had once been questioned by many, as the Celestial Empire of Velgranth had never revealed him to the public until a few years ago.
In most kingdoms and empires, the First Prince represented the face of the nation and would normally have been introduced to the public from birth.
However, that was not the case with Arnold.
Arnold smiled. Instead of answering immediately, he carefully observed Rei and Lucas.
"Hero of Light and Hero of Darkness… you are far stronger than I expected. I am confident the assault on the Demon Empire's fortress will proceed smoothly."
Rei was about to respond when Lucas's cold voice cut him off.
"Cut the small talk. State your purpose. Otherwise, this meeting is over immediately."
Rei froze and turned a displeased glance toward Lucas.
However, Lucas did not care at all. He was straightforward and disliked wasting time on pleasantries.
Instead of taking offense, Arnold chuckled.
"Pfft… you're quite the character, Dark Hero. I like that."
Rei breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, Arnold was not the type to be easily provoked. Otherwise, they might have lost their chance to gain support from the dragon race.
"Alright, I won't waste any more time," Arnold said, folding his arms across his chest. "I'm here for one reason—to help you. But there are conditions, and I hope you'll hear me out."
