Chapter 2059 - 2048: The Evil Dragon's Dark Past
Just as she was speaking, Vivian froze. The next moment it was like all the strength in her body had been drained away; she collapsed limply to the ground and started wailing.Vivian's heart‑rending howls were enough to make anyone who heard them want to cry. Even Ning Fan couldn't quite bear it. "Vivian, what's wrong with you? What are you crying for?"
If anyone had the right to be heartbroken, it should've been Ning Fan. His beloved woman had gone to such a dangerous world, and was even being quietly targeted by a Divine King.
"It's over… everything's over."
Vivian bawled as she complained like a modern‑day Xianglin Sao, repeating the same three words over and over: "All gone. Gone."
This scene left Ning Fan completely baffled. "What do you mean, 'all gone'?"
"All the stuff I've collected over so many years, all those treasures I scraped together with so much hard work—it's all gone just like that."
With a father at Divine King Level, you could say Vivian had been showered with all the love in the world.
Storage items and such were naturally something she'd never lack, and hers was even a Demi-God Artifact, just one step from a Divine Artifact—once the artifact spirit awakened, it would become a genuine Divine Artifact.
Vivian's Storage Bracelet had an enormous storage space, roughly the size of ten football fields, and it came with its own time‑solidification law.
No matter what you put in, it would be exactly the same when you took it out.
Even if you put a cup of boiling water inside, no matter how much time passed, when you took it out it would still be steaming hot.
Most importantly, that Storage Bracelet held all her worldly possessions.
Gifts from her father and her brother, offerings from the subordinate Divine Spirits under the Dark Dragon King Divine Series.
And of course, all the assets Vivian had "diligently amassed" over the years.
But when she was knocked out of the Star Sea, the impact of the chaotic spacetime currents swept away the Storage Bracelet along with everything inside it—everything vanished without a trace.
Inside Vivian's Storage Bracelet, the floor was paved with bricks of Gold, piles of jewels in every color rose like mountains, and there were more assorted treasures than one could ever hope to count.
Every one of those treasures had been carefully picked out by Vivian herself, and now they had all turned into smoke passing before her eyes.
Rolling around on the ground wasn't Vivian's style of venting, otherwise she'd definitely be in so much pain she'd be rolling all over the floor.
The last time she'd rolled all over the street, it had been purely because the pain had her hovering between life and death.
"If it's lost, it's lost. I'll buy you more."
"Really?"
Looking at Vivian's tear‑filled eyes, Ning Fan nodded. "Don't worry. When have I ever lied to you?"
"Really? Then you'd better compensate me."
"Oh come on!"
Given how greedy Vivian was, you could imagine how much that Storage Bracelet could hold. Even if Ning Fan sold everything he owned, he still wouldn't be able to fill it up.
What left Ning Fan most speechless was that this whole mess was clearly Vivian's own doing, yet she'd dumped the bad debt on his head and was even demanding compensation.
"Talk about good intentions being treated like crap."
For a moment, Ning Fan didn't even know what to say. He turned around and headed toward the entrance.
Following the passage out, the two of them re‑entered the interior of the palace, except this time they were heading for the central gate.
At the end of the central gate was a camp that looked like a military barracks, and just like before, there wasn't a single person in sight.
"This should be the training grounds for the Knights of Light."
Hearing that, Ning Fan asked suspiciously, "I've noticed you seem to know an awful lot about Middle Earth and about the Church of Light."
It wasn't strange for Vivian to know secrets of the Divine Realm—her father's identity was right there.
But based on what Vivian herself had said, she'd only stayed in the Origin World for about twenty years, and spent most of that time asleep.
How could she know so much? Even if it was all hearsay, she shouldn't be this clear on things—some of this stuff was inside information only insiders should know.
Vivian gave a dry laugh. "I did live there for twenty years. Of course I know a few things."
Ning Fan didn't buy it. "You call this 'a few things'? You've clearly been here before. Otherwise how could you know so much and recognize a Knight training camp at a glance?"
"I…"
"What's there to be embarrassed about? If you want to say it, just say it. It's not like anyone else is here.
"Exactly. Just the two of us."
Vivian gave an awkward smile, then started talking about her glorious past years in Middle Earth.
"You really are something else."
After hearing everything, Ning Fan couldn't help but give her a thumbs‑up.
Vivian hadn't lied. During those twenty years in Middle Earth, she really had spent the vast majority of her time sleeping.
Her greatest hobby was sleeping on piles of Gold, jewels, and Jade Artifacts.
As for the little bit of time she wasn't asleep, naturally it was spent "supporting" her hobby.
Vivian spent her days drifting between one robbery and the next, until she unknowingly kicked an iron plate.
Back then Vivian hadn't even reached the Demi-God Realm. A Sky Knight passing by her lair, with a heart full of "serving the people" ideals, wounded her and handed her over to the Church of Light.
And so Vivian ended up imprisoned for quite a long time.
Until one day, seemingly with the help of some big shot, the Church of Light released Vivian and even invited her to tour various places.
You didn't need to think hard to know that the one who'd rescued Vivian must have been her father.
After that, Vivian was taken away by her royal father.
Though she hadn't suffered any real losses, the whole affair became her greatest humiliation, something she dreamed of avenging someday.
That was how Vivian and the Church of Light ended up locked in a Blood Sea of hatred.
At Vivian's tale of woe, Ning Fan only silently mouthed one phrase at her: "Serves you right."
Following the central corridor to its end, they found themselves facing rows upon rows of bookshelves.
A room as big as two football fields turned out to be a giant library.
"Vivian, this part's up to you."
Ning Fan shot Vivian a look, and she released her Divine Thoughts, spreading them in all directions.
While he waited, Ning Fan casually pulled out a few massive tomes, but the Hebrew characters on them made his head spin.
"So damn poor. There's nothing here."
Vivian stomped her foot and left, ponytail swishing behind her.
"What a waste of such a pretty face."
They reached the room on the far left. As they went deeper down the passage, Ning Fan caught a faint scent of blood.
"Looks like the Church of Light's prison is here. The dark aura in this place is really dense."
They walked to the end of the passage, thinking they'd reached their destination.
But unexpectedly, the path split into three here, becoming three smaller corridors.
Looking toward the furthest left corridor, Vivian sneered. "So it's the infamous Inquisition. I didn't expect the Holy Church here to have this kind of institution too."
On the wall beside the left‑hand passage, Ning Fan saw a sign that read "Inquisition."
"What's the Inquisition?"
"Just as light must have darkness, the Church of Light might look squeaky clean on the surface, but behind the scenes it's filthy as hell. That's where the Inquisition comes in."
Vivian sneered. "To put it bluntly, they're just a bunch of assassins raised by the Holy Church. If anyone threatens the Church's interests, they're the ones who take care of that person."
