A hint of crimson bloodthirsty light flashed under Agares’s lens as she turned her gaze to Barbatos,"I mean, someone like her, would she care about us who’ve been locked away for thousands of years?"

Agares nodded, her expression hardly pleasant,

"Releasing us was just her treat; I even suspect the method she gave me to free Elliog’s soul was a setup for this situation. Our freedom is merely her bait, meant to use us as pawns to complete her unknown secret."

Barbatos’s handsome face furrowed in thought, and a faint breeze flickered in his hand, carrying whispers of agonized wails, as if he was querying some sort of information.

After a moment of silence, he finally spoke,

"What could her goal be?"

"Ha, how would I know? That creature is a [King], and the secrets she holds are beyond our imagination. She’s betting that we won’t abandon our other locked-up kin, your partner, my friends, who are still restrained within."

Barbatos closed his eyes, exhaled slowly, murmuring,

"Yes, he’s still in there..."

"But, even cunning as she is, she still revealed a flaw."

Barbatos opened his eyes, seemingly intrigued by Agares’s words,

"A flaw?"

"Think carefully about what she wants us to accomplish; if her true goal isn’t genuinely to help us and our kin escape, then her target must be closely linked to what she wants us to achieve..."

Too lazy to think, Barbatos rested his cheek and awaited Agares’s answer...

After several seconds, Agares’s eyes suddenly lit up, as if struck by a bolt of insight, muttering,

"That Human Empress’s pursued husband..."

"The husband, also involved with that Dragon-man species human?"

"Hmm."

"How can you be sure?"

Agares sneered, but the clues in her mind seemed to multiply, and her smile grew wider,

"I can’t be sure, but don’t you find it odd that someone like Paimon would have such knowledge of a human?"

She cracked her knuckles, producing a crisp sound like grinding gears, and continued,

"If it’s some mystical knowledge, it’s normal for her to know, but about a person? She seems sure that man would plunge into Chaotic Knowledge to protect that Dragon-man species. Such certainty in someone’s character... heh, doesn’t it seem strange coming from Paimon?"

Barbatos narrowed his eyes, softly murmuring,

"Fisher Benavides, what could be his connection to Paimon?"

"Whatever the connection is, even with the worst malicious intent of calling the man her paramour, or he has something Paimon desires... What if we reach him first?"

"..."

Agares once again snapped off one of her index fingers and threw it onto the ground, watching it burrow into the earth like a living worm, heading to some unknown place.
